The Korean government is pushing ahead with a plan to allow tattooing, which can only be performed by medical professionals under the current law, to be performed by non-medical professionals if they obtain a national certificate. Korea is one of the countries where only doctors can legally perform tattooing.

Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 7th that it ordered a research service on the tattoo qualification test on the 4th. The plan is to prepare for the 10 tattoo-related bills proposed by the National Assembly as they contain national examination regulations.

Most of the 6.5 million tattoo parades (estimated) in Korea last year were performed by some 250,000 tattooists. "We are the only country in the world that sees tattoos as a medical treatment," said Lim Boran, president of the Korean Association of Munitions and History.
