"Youth is Flower," a painting produced by G-DRAGON (Kwon Ji-yong), will be exhibited at the Seoul Auction in March. G-DRAGON, who draws as a hobby, has drawn attention as a "big hand" in the art world while collecting artworks. The exhibition at auction for the first time is a pop art painting of a Daisy flower, an image of her. Poetry artists will be exhibited at the auction for 30 million won($22903).
Seoul Auction and K Auction announced their major entries and schedules for the auction, which will take place at the end of this month. The number of entries for the Seoul Auction auction to be held on Friday is 85, and the estimated price is around 18 billion won. In particular, Kwon will display a painting of daisy flowers. Completed in 2017, the painting is made by spraying and marker on top of steel panels.
Kwon Ji-yong was also among the "50 Notable Collectors" selected by Art News of the U.S. in 2019. Regarding the auction price set at 30 million won, Seoul Auction said, "The price was comprehensively considered, including the popularity of the global artist Kwon Ji-yong, the fact that his work has not been traded before, and the introduction of his works to the Hong Kong market in a timely manner," adding, "However, he is not an appraiser as an art."
Jeong Joon-mo, head of the Korea Art Appraisal Research Center, also said, "Celeb's fame is also reflected in artists. I often think that artists are proportional to their quality, but not necessarily. It is a phenomenon created by Korea's special situation in which art is viewed as an economic commodity, not a cultural commodity."
