About the Design

The phone case design incorporates decorative elements from the Jeonju Chest, such as bosanghwa (precious flower motifs) and jebi chori (swallowtail motifs). These traditional patterns have been reimagined to create a unique and culturally rich phone case design.

The Jeonju Chest is a type of wooden furniture crafted in the Jeonju region during the Joseon Dynasty. Jeonju was known for its skilled artisans who created high-quality wooden furniture using timber from the mountainous eastern regions of Jeolla Province. The growing wealth of the era contributed to the vibrancy of this craft.

The Jeonju Chest combines the designs of jang (wardrobe) and bandaji (half-closed chests). Typically constructed as 2-3 tiers, the upper portion resembles a wardrobe, while the lower portion is styled as a bandaji. Durable woods such as zelkova, pine, and persimmon wood with beautiful grain patterns were commonly used.

The metal decorations, often seen on Jeonju Chests, feature traditional motifs such as swallowtails (jebi chori), immortality herbs (bullocho), precious flowers (bosanghwa), and swastikas (manja).

This phone case captures these timeless elements in a modern, functional design.
