What is Najeon Chilgi?

Najeon Chilgi (螺鈿漆器) refers to a lacquered object made with a shiny pattern of shellfish, such as 貝 or abalone, that is, the inside of the shell is carved into a lacquered object. It has been produced in Korea since a long time ago, and the word "Najeon Chilgi" means "螺" and the word "decorating" means "to decorate." To put it another way, it means "a device decorated and lacquered with 鈿." The design, which shows off the splendor of rainbow colors on a glossy black background, gives a strong impression, and the abalone shell itself is rare, and the process of manually processing it into the shape takes a lot of time and effort, so it is still considered valuable by modern standards.
