Son Heung-min is drawing attention by stating in an interview with a magazine that he will depart from the soccer world after retiring as a soccer player.
On the 18th, fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar Korea unveiled its cover for the April issue featuring Son Heung-min.
Son Heung-min's pictorial, which took place during the 2024 F/W London Fashion Week, showcases a fashionista 180 degrees different from the one on the field, with a unique mansion in the background.
In an interview following the photoshoot, Son said, "There has never been a moment when I felt just a crush on soccer alone," adding, "I've deeply contemplated this question, but I always cry because of soccer and laugh because of soccer. We love each other."
"When I find myself at home engaged in other activities, I often catch myself watching soccer videos," Son said. "I would sometimes find myself gazing at people playing soccer outside the window without even realizing it. Even during conversations with my family, soccer often becomes the topic. I feel that every moment of my personal life is intertwined with soccer."
When asked if his previous statement, "if I retire, I will not do anything related to soccer," still holds true, he responded, "I don't believe I will change my mind for the rest of my life. It's a promise to myself, and I've already made my decision. I love soccer dearly, but I don't possess the ability to teach others, and I cherish the moments when I kick the ball myself. Of course, I will always remain close to soccer, just as I was a soccer fan before."
When asked about Son's dream, he replied, "I am incredibly ambitious. It may not be apparent from the outside, but I strive to win every game and lift trophies. I aspire to be a soccer player who can give back as much love as I have received. Above all, I want to be a content and joyful soccer player, much like I am now."
